Executive Chef Waller’s commitment to fresh, high quality, sustainable seafood is reflected in the creative menu which features a variety of seafood options, both raw and cooked, as well as appetizers, soups, salads, large platters meant for sharing, entrees, wood-fired dishes, and selection of decadent desserts. A creative cocktail menu is served alongside an impressive wine list featuring Monterey County vintners, California wines and international vintages. The high-energy bar, bustling open kitchen, and crowded outdoor patio personifies a relaxed, fun and joyous atmosphere.

Our piazza-style oceanside coffeehouse is the place to start your morning with the rich flavor of freshly roasted Peet's Coffee and artisan pastries. Outdoor seating at the Monterey Plaza Hotel's Dolphins fountain on the plaza offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with great service and stunning views of Monterey Bay and Mt. Toro.

Executive Chef James WallerUnder Chef Waller's expert direction, since 1997, restaurant and banquet menus are comprised of fresh, contemporary dishes that make innovative use of Monterey's agricultural and aquatic bounty, while harmoniously blending traditional and new styles of cuisine.
"The abundance of fresh foods available on the Monterey Peninsula makes it possible to develop menus that are simple, elegant, and exciting," said Waller. "We've added more fresh seafood selections and more grilled entrees, lightening the menu and enhancing the flavors. After implementing the new menu in Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar, I applied the same concept to our banquet menus and now we have satisfied restaurant diners as well as banquet patrons."
All seafood served in Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar is in agreement with the Seafood Watch Guide-a program the Monterey Bay Aquarium designed to raise consumer awareness about the importance of buying sustainable seafood.
